Getting Motorcycle Fever

Nothing was going right that morning. I was doing the usual running around town taking care of a few errands. Not one thing went smoothly. Out of stock, no one here can help you, you need to come back ,wait , back ordered, on and on and on. Nothing devastating, just irritating, no matter what. Not one thing went right. I was ready for a break.

Not to far away a power sports dealer. Boats, jet skis, ATVs, motorcycles, and of course accessories . A good place to take my mind off of my errands for few minutes and maybe score a cup of coffee. Pulling in to the dealership seeing all the new big boy toys I was feeling better already. The errands could wait.

"Anything I can help you with?" rang out as I was eyeballing the new fishing boats."Naw, just looking today" I yelled back. " Holler if you need anything." he says walking inside. I continue looking at anything and everything finally wandering inside where they keep the coffee....and motorcycles. "Find anything you can't live without ?"one of the salesman says. " No not one thing, " I say " just I can't afford any of them." They chuckled back at me. "Got an extra cup of coffee?" I asked. Nodding they point to the coffee pot "Help yourself."

I poured my Styrofoam cup to the brim and joined them in the bull session. We talk about everything they had on the lot, how business was, the weather ,the usual stuff .I forgot all about my errands. The subject got around to motorcycles mainly because that was where we had been sitting. They asked if I rode , I said sure but haven't owned one in years. They started showing me their line of bikes and telling me all the different advancements since I'd been riding. I had no idea that motorcycles had got so fast. I really got into looking at the new models I really haven't given motorcycles a second thought in years. I see a bunch of guys my age all over but I always thought I just out grew riding. I'd rather fish I would always say. I was starting to remember how much fun they were. I straddled a few of the new bikes, still just looking, hell I couldn't remember the last time I went motorcycle shopping; ten, fifteen, surely not twenty years..... try twenty-seven, where did the time go.

"You need to take that home with you today, it suits you!" I hear snapping me out of my thoughts. "Wait a minute!' I said "I mainly came in for coffee!" The salesman looks up and says "Yeah I know, but I gotta try ."he smiles. I took the test drive and I forgot how much fun and enjoyment I got out of riding, I grew up on motorcycles and for the life of me I can not remember why I stopped. Not being able to convince myself of any reason not to have that new bike , I went home with it. That was a little over a year ago, and I still have no regrets.
